On Catch The Wind album, Donovan have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke . . .’ school of songwriting. Self-described as Trance: Psychedelic with lots of words, Donovan comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. ‘Catch The Wind’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Lots of variety between tracks. My favorite is To Try For The Sun
To Try For The Sun (3:39) - awsome. When I listen to Hey Gyp (Dig The Slowness) in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Colours very upbeat. Josie is a bit of a show-tune. The Universal Soldier (2:13) a good melody. Candy Man - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. First time I heard The Summer Day Reflection Song was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing.
